Beaches
The climate in Maldives is warm all year round, varying from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. Thus the weather is mostly suited for strolling along beaches and dipping in the clean and welcoming seashores and environs. Yet, the beaches are never crowded, and thus one can peacefully enjoy the beach under the sun or in the green shade of nearby palm trees without stress.
All the 26 natural atolls boast idyllic, spectacular beaches, without exception. They are great for taking in the sun and just communing with the white sands. In addition, a wide variety of water sports and games will add to the vacationers’ experience. These include windsurfing and catamaran sailing, kayaking, parasailing, kite-surfing, water-skiing and jet skiing. Of course, one’s own group can also play beach volleyball, badminton and squash. There are gymnasiums and instructors as well.
Aside from lazing around on the crystalline white beaches, one can also try cruising among the islands on board yachts and dhonis. These boats generally have bunks and private cabins and can accommodate between 8 and 20 passengers. Seaplane tours are also available.
Peak season is between December and April, when prices are at their highest. Between May and November there are a few monsoon rains and prices are lower, but it is also a season when some resorts are closed for repairs.
